In order to achieve its mission of protecting pensions, PBGC works with all kinds of data, facts, and figures. We know that our customers appreciate transparency in government, and to support the Obama Administration's call for increased accountability, PBGC recently posted five new data sets to PBGC's Open Government page. The new additions are Appeals Board data, customer satisfaction scores, Annual Performance Report data, website analytics, and Freedom of Information (FOIA) requests. Each of these data sets can be opened and explored. For example, the Appeals Board data includes the number of appeals opened and closed, average number of days to close, and current number of appeals for fiscal years 2010 through 2014. You can explore all of PBGC's data sets and sign up for updates on our Open Government page.
On June 29, President Obama signed legislation to extend the Health Coverage Tax Credit (HCTC) through the end of 2019. The Health Coverage Tax Credit is a federal tax credit that pays a significant percent of the health insurance premiums for qualified individuals, including individuals who are 55-65 years of age and are receiving benefits from PBGC. To follow the latest development on HCTC visit IRS's HCTC webpage.
